Robbins Mayor Darren Bryant Bans Dr. Cornel Darden Jr, Owner of the Southland Journal Newspaper and Robbins Native from Village Hall (Robbins, IL) – (This press release expresses the words and opinions of the sender, verbatim, and not the words and opinions of a Southland Journal journalist or it’s editorial board) Darren Bryant-Mayor of Robbins, Illinois- along with the Robbins Police Chief, David Sheppard, have ordered a controversial figure to be barred from Robbins Village Hall. This comes after a very disturbing incident in which Mr. Cornel Darden performed a tirade of sorts during an unannounced visit to Robbins Village Hall.
Darden entered Village Hall at 1pm on January 25th, demanding that the village approve a work permit for a developer with questionable past dealings, to perform work on his (Darden) home. Robbins employees were present and took notice of Mr. Darden’s abrupt behavior in insisting that this permit be granted to the developer.
Mayor Contacted
Mayor Bryant was contacted and immediately came to Village Hall. The mayor was aggressively confronted by Darden who yelled numerous expletives towards the mayor. As the Mayor was requesting repeatedly for Mr. Darden to leave village hall. Mr. Darden’s wife began to urge him to leave the building as he continued to yell expletives at everyone in his site.
He then took his hot cup of coffee that was in his hand and threw it against a wall inside the mayor’s office, and just three feet away from a resident who was seated in the mayor’s conference room.
“Mr. Darden has continued to try and intimidate our government staff and uses his publication to accomplish his personal business ventures. If you don’t conform to his business demands, he immediately writes erroneous articles about you. Its yellow journalism at its best.” says Mayor Bryant.
Bryant adds,” This property belongs to the taxpayers. However, this behavior will not be tolerated. Given some of Mr. Darden’s behavior and antics in the past, I was left with no other choice to ban him from entering Robbins Village Hall in the future.”
Mayors from other communities are now joining Mayor Bryant in calling for a unified ban of Cornell Darden being allowed on any local municipality property. He has been known to perform the same above-mentioned antics and bizarre tirades at other village halls throughout the southland.

Sounds like Dr Darden was angry. However, yellow journalism is subjective at best. The Southland has a plethora of gross misconduct in government. It is up to the observer to determine what is legitimate, righteous and otherwise.
