Rich Township Raptors Claim Big Dipper Basketball Tournament Championship (Rich Township, IL) — The Rich Township Raptors have made history, capturing the Big Dipper Basketball Tournament Championship for the first time since 2003. This victory marks a significant milestone for the district, firmly establishing the Raptors as a force in Illinois high school basketball.
The tournament, which featured top teams from the region, including Kenwood Academy and Homewood Flossmoor, saw the Raptors rise to the challenge. Their exceptional teamwork, determination, and skill were on full display, culminating in a well-earned championship win that signals a new era for the program.
A standout performance came from Al Brooks Jr., who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). Brooks’ leadership both on and off the court played a key role in the Raptors’ success, making him a clear choice for the honor. Additionally, both Brooks and teammate Jamson Coulter were named to the prestigious Big Dipper All-Tournament Team, a recognition given to the top players selected by coaches from all participating teams.
