Elect David Sheppard

“While I am disappointed that I was not endorsed, it does not change my trajectory. I am not bowing; I am forging ahead. The margin was narrow, and I believe when we go to the voters, the margin will swing my way.”

“My commitment to public service is my top priority. The Secretary of State’s office is not a steppingstone to a higher office  I’m running to provide the residents of Illinois with the best customer service possible, to ensure businesses have easy access to the services, beefing up the literacy programs in the state to help the almost 2 million people who struggled with literacy, and increasing minority and women-owned contracting. I want to strengthen the offices’ involvement in our elections to protect ballot access for our citizens.”

Democrat as Secretary of State

“It is crucial that we elect a Democrat as the next Secretary of State. We cannot go back to the tragedy and corruption that occurred when Republicans ran the office. To succeed, we must have a nominee who appeals to the people who vote Democratic, namely women and, more precisely, African American women. Winning elections is not rocket science. It is about numbers and who can connect with voters.”

Monica Gordon for Cook County Commissioner

“I am a candidate who focuses on the numbers. Voting numbers. Which candidate can appeal to the majority of the Democratic party primary voters? I believe that the strongest candidate is not someone who can buy influence, but rather someone who can gain the respect of Democratic voters. Since the preponderance of the primary voters are African Americans and progressive democrats, my candidacy will appeal to them and to others who know that I will work night and day to represent them.”

Editors Note: Secretary of State Jesse White was not endorsed by Cook County Democratic Party in 1998. Also, Alexi was not endorsed by Cook County Democratic Party in 2006.
