Montgomery: Brawl Breaks Out on Riverfront Leading to Multiple Arrests (Montgomery, AL) —  Shocking video footage has surfaced on the internet from an Alabama riverfront showing the moment a brawl broke out between a group of white and black people, with a woman being assaulted with a chair, leading to multiple arrests. A witness claimed the fight started with an argument over a pontoon boat that was blocking the dock where a riverboat was trying to anchor. 

Videos shared on social media show scenes of violence, with sides seemingly divided over racial lines. It is not yet clear whether or not the argument was racially aggravated. One man is even seen swimming across from the other side of the river to join the altercation.

According to reports, Montgomery police responded to reports of a disturbance at the riverfront 200 Block of Coosa Street at around 7:00 pm Saturday.

The footage appears to show the fight start in a tussle between a white and a black man at the end of the boardwalk. The pair exchanged blows before another man joins in, tackling one of the men to the ground. Chaos ensued, with many jumping into the brawl to either join in or break it up.

Other skirmishes break out as well between a group of black and white people. At one point, a white woman is thrown into the water and another is hit over the head with a white plastic chair while groups of men throw punches, wrestle on the ground, and gouge at eyes.

The incident is under investigation by local police. Several people have been detained by the Montgomery police, whose names have not yet been released, and four active warrants have been issued as of Sunday afternoon.
