Haymarket Center Commemorates 50th Anniversary with Logo Design Competition (Chicago, IL) – In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Haymarket Center is inviting community members to submit designs for its commemorative logo design competition. The winning design – which will be unveiled at the 50th Anniversary Gala: Celebrating Transformation – will symbolize the spirit of recovery, hope and transformation that Haymarket Center fosters through its life-saving treatment of substance use and mental health disorders and primary care conditions.
“We are beyond excited to have the community participate in such an important moment in our history,” said Dr. Dan Lustig, President and CEO of Haymarket Center. “Since our founding in 1975, Haymarket Center has continually offered lifesaving, innovative healthcare while expanding on our mission of supporting individuals in need. We look forward to selecting an anniversary logo that reflects our rich history and the values that drive our work.”
The competition runs from Jan. 21, 2025, to February 25, 2025. Submissions will be judged by a selection committee consisting of Haymarket Center patients, staff and volunteers. The designs will be evaluated based on:
- Relevance: How well does the logo reflect the mission and values?
- Creativity: How unique and original is the design?
- Simplicity: Is the logo simple, clear, and easy to recognize?
- Versatility: Does the logo work across various platforms and mediums?
- Emotional Appeal: Does the logo evoke a sense of hope and transformation?
The winner of the contest will receive a $500 prize and two tickets to Haymarket Center’s 50th Anniversary Gala on April 25, 2025. The gala, with its theme of “celebrating transformation,” will highlight Haymarket’s innovative services, immense growth and the thousands of lives touched since founder Monsignor Ignatius McDermott began his mission in 1975, walking the streets of Chicago to save one life at a time. The evening will feature a conversation with actor and producer Christian Slater as he shares his own recovery journey. Event information, tickets and sponsorship opportunities can be found at HaymarketCenter.org.
Over the last 50 years, Haymarket Center has become the region’s largest provider of substance use disorder treatment, serving about 12,000 people each year. Its continued growth has led to the organization’s designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FHQC) Look-Alike, resulting in greater resources for patients. In 2024, Haymarket Center expanded services by opening two new work training programs with its West Loop Pharmacy and Mac’s Deli, Chicago’s first restaurant run by people in recovery.
“Part of Father Mac’s founding vision for Haymarket Center revolved around the idea of giving our patients a sense of community,” said Dr. Lustig. “The opening of Mac’s Deli not only allowed us to honor his dream but gave the community an opportunity to directly impact Haymarket Center and our programs. The logo competition invites the community to once again support us and showcase the legacy that Father Mac has built in Chicago.”
The 50th anniversary logo should represent the mission and values of Haymarket Center and be derived from the current logo, with added elements to signify the anniversary. For complete contest guidelines and details on how to enter, visit HaymarketCenter.org.
