Grizzlies grant Bulls their 3rd straight loss (Memphis, TN) – Coming into this matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Bulls have an opportunity to bounce back from two straight close losses in the 4th quarter. Memphis comes into this game on a two game losing streak as well.

In the Grizzlies last game against the Pacers, Jonas Valanciunas tied a career-high with 34 points and 22 rebounds. Nikola Vučević holding his own in that matchup will be a key in this game. The Bulls also struggled guarding Trae Young in the pick and roll against Atlanta, which they will have to improve upon tonight against Ja Morant who thrives as a scorer and passer.

Grizzlies lead after low-scoring 1st half

After only scoring 9 points against Minnesota, Thaddeus Young scored 6 of the Bulls first 11 points. Young’s quick start gave Chicago an 11-10 lead with 6 minutes left in the 1st. Memphis went up 20-11, but the Bulls closed the quarter out on an 11-2 run to tie it at 22 going into 2nd.

The Bulls shot 9/24(38%) from the field in the 1st, but made 6 of their first 8 shots to start the 2nd. Daniel Theis made 5 of those field goals, to put Chicago up 35-27 with 8 minutes left in the quarter. Dillon Brooks became the first double-figure scorer of the game for Memphis with 11 points. His layup reduced the Bulls lead to 41-38 with 3 minutes left in the half. The Grizzlies led 48-47 going into the 2nd half.

Morant only scored 6 points in the 1st half, but he did set his teammates up nicely with 5 assists. Brooks led the Grizzlies in scoring, with 13 points. Theis, Young and Zach LaVine all scored in double-figures, with 14, 10 and 10 points respectively.

Vučević propels Bulls going into the 4th

Memphis led 51-47 early in the 3rd, but 8 points from Vučević allowed Chicago to take their largest lead since the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Behind Vučević, the Bulls went up 66-59 with 5.5 minutes left in the 3rd. Vučević ended the quarter with 12 points, but Valanciunas wasn’t far behind with 8 points in the quarter for the Grizzlies. Valanciunas leads Grizzlies to win

Patrick Williams and Tomas Satoransky both scored their first points of the night in the 4th quarter. Satoransky broke the 12th tie of the game with his layup, giving Chicago an 83-81 lead with 7 minutes left. Valanaciunas responded with 10 points, leading Memphis to a 20-6 run. The Grizzlies went up 101-89 with 2 minutes left behind that stretch. The Grizzlies won the game, 101-90.

The Grizzlies outscored the Bulls 31-16 in the 4th quarter, making the difference in a game that was close throughout with 13 lead changes. Valanciunas had 26 points and 14 rebounds, with Morant adding 13 points and 10 assists.

LaVine led the Bulls with 21 points and 9 assists. Vučevic added 17 points and 10 rebounds
