FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opens in Dixmoor (Dixmoor, IL) – A FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center opened in Dixmoor on Tuesday, October 8th, according to Dixmoor Mayor Fitzgerald Roberts who says the center will help residents impacted by the July 13 – 16, 2024, severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding.
According to a FEMA press release, “Specialists from FEMA, the state of Illinois and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the center to help survivors apply for federal disaster assistance, upload documents, get their questions answered in person, access other types of help that may be available and learn ways to make their property more disaster resistant.”
“FEMA will be here for the next two weeks,” Roberts said. “I encourage all residents impacted by the storms this summer to stop by the community center and speak to FEMA staff. I thank the FEMA and the State of Illinois for coming out to our community and providing our residents with the assistance they need and deserve.”
