Dr. White, Gordon Sworn in at PSC Board Meeting (Chicago Heights, IL) – Yesterday’s organizational meeting of the Prairie State College Board of Trustees began with the swearing in of newly elected trustee Monica Gordon and re-elected board trustee Dr. Ronald “Ronnie” White. White is now serving his second term as trustee. Both Dr. White and Gordon are serving six-year terms.

Gordon, a community advocate, is passionate about education. She stands on a platform that seeks to recognize and embrace the relationship between higher education and economic development. She believes that community colleges are the economic engines for the community. She also hopes that Prairie State College can help to conquer the digital divide and help students have access to proper, up-to-date tools. Gordon was elected as board secretary at the meeting as well.

Dr. White was originally elected to the board of trustees in 2015. He served as Vice Chair most recently, and was elected as Chairman at last night’s meeting. According to his biography, Dr. White has a background in theology and serves in the ministry. He served in the United State Air Force. In conjunction with his public service as Prairie State College Trustee, Dr. White also serves the pubic in many other capacities, including as chaplain of several area police and fire departments.

Last night’s board meeting was not without any controversy, as the board passed a resolution to censure trustee Jay Readey. The details of his censure have not-yet been made public.
