Dolton 149 to Hold Town Hall on Temporary Classrooms During School Renovations (Calumet City, IL) — Dolton School District 149 will hold a town hall meeting to discuss its plan for renovating three schools in the district (Berger-Vandenberg, Diekman and Caroline Sibley), as well as integrating their 6th graders into the middle school.

The town hall will be held at the Middle School, located at 1650 Pulaski Rd., Calumet City, on Wednesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. Parents, community members, and other stakeholders are invited to attend to learn more about the renovation project and the district’s plans to ensure a smooth transition for students during the construction period.

“We are excited about the upcoming renovations and the positive learning impact they will have on our students,” said Dr. Maureen White, Superintendent of Dolton 149. “We also want to make sure that parents and community members are informed about our plans for temporary classrooms and that we have the opportunity to hear their feedback.”

The construction will create a “modern and engaging” environment, according to School Board President Lolita Crisler-Liggons.

“The renovations at Diekman, Berger-Vandenberg and Caroline Sibley Elementary Schools will provide students with a modern and engaging learning environment, as well as improved health and safety features,” said President Crisler-Liggons “While the work is being done, the district will utilize temporary classrooms to ensure students continue to learn without interruption.”

The town hall meeting will include a presentation by district officials on the renovation project and the temporary classroom plans. There will also be time for questions and answers from attendees.
