Dixmoor Reports 9 Water Main Breaks in Less Than One Week (Dixmoor, IL) — Dixmoor Mayor Fitzgerald Roberts says three more water mains have broken this morning as one break continues to lead to other breaks.
There have been nine water main breaks in Dixmoor since Friday. Once one break is repaired, another water main breaks.
“These breaks are happening in the main arteries feeding the community,” Roberts said. “We need some federal and state help because these old pipes are deteriorating fast. Not only that, but the cost also to keep doing these repairs is hurting the Village’s bottom line. We can’t afford to keep fixing break after break. Obviously, there will be breaks and we plan for that, but no one is planning for nine water main breaks in less than a week. Our community needs help, and we need it now.”
