Tinley Park Board Awards Resident for Actions (Tinley Park, IL) – The Village Board on Tuesday honored resident David Sleeper with a Citizens Life-Saving Award for actions he took during a house fire March 4 along Harlem Avenue.

David was driving home from work that morning when he noticed a house on fire. He immediately called 911 and then went to alert the homeowners. No one was outside as he approached the house, so he began pounding on the windows and doors. This awakened two sleeping residents and their pet, who were able to escape the home unharmed. During this time the fire had broken through the front window, and heavy smoke was in the house. Without his actions, the outcome of this fire could have been much more tragic.

This is the very first Life-Saving Award given to a resident. Many thanks to David, our resident hero!
