S&S Experience Headlines the Final Day of the Millennium Park 20th Anniversary Celebration (Chicago, IL) — S&S Chicago will be among the headliners for the City of Chicago’s Millennium Park 20th Anniversary Celebration (July 18–21), presented by Capitol One. Scheduled to take place almost exactly 20 years since the Park’s official opening on July 16, 2004, this four-day free celebration features award-winning headliners, activities for families and youth, dance performances, new public art, and concerts.
This special anniversary programming, produced in partnership with Mayor Brandon Johnson, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), Millennium Park Foundation, Grant Park Music Festival, Capitol One, and more, is offered in addition to the robust lineup of free music festivals, film and music series, workouts, and family programming offered season-long in Millennium Park—the #1 attraction in the Midwest and among the top 10 most-visited sites in the United States.
As part of the four-day celebration, Chicago’s own Steve “Silk” Hurley and Shannon “Skip” Syas present the S&S Chicago Experience on Sunday, July 21 from 4pm – 7pm.
Having performed at Millennium Park’s opening in 2004, they will bring an array of House music performances. International artists CeCe Peniston, Robin S., Ann Nesby, Syleena Johnson, Chantay Savage, Keith Nunnally, Sharon Pass, Jameisha Trice and B. Lauren will grace the stage. The event will be hosted by Shannon “Skip” Syas and Damon Williams.
“The 20th Anniversary of Millennium Park holds special significance for me, as I was the featured DJ at the Millennium Park opening 20 years ago. Instead of simply marking this occasion with another DJ set, we aimed to create a show featuring some of the many singers who have been part of the S&S Chicago Experience over the years, linking the faces and voices to the songs I’ve produced rather than just playing the records,” said S&S Chicago Co-founder and four-time Grammy-nominated remixer, Steve “Silk” Hurley.
This year marks the 40th Anniversary of House Music and the global influence the genre has created, with Chicago as its birthplace.
“We believe in creating a full-circle celebration of music, peace, love, unity, respect, and community—a true reflection of our city’s essence. As we eagerly prepare to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Millennium Park, we are committed to honoring the rich heritage of house music. This genre has not only shaped our local culture but has also resonated deeply with audiences worldwide. With enthusiasm and dedication, S&S Chicago is poised to deliver an unforgettable experience, celebrating the enduring impact of house music,” says music producer and DJ, Shannon “Skip” Syas, co-founder of S&S Chicago.
