White Sox take the 2nd game of series (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) – After yesterday’s narrow loss, the White Sox took to the plate swinging today. Early in the 1st inning, White Sox batters Luis Robert and Yoan Moncada both hit singles to land on a base. Next batter up was White Sox batter Jose Abreu, who launched a curveball to left center field for a home run to bring Robert and Moncada home. Soon after, Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker was ejected by the home plate umpire. After the ejection, White Sox batter Danny Mendick took the plate to hit a 94 mph fastball to right field for an RBI double. The White Sox started strong in 1st inning with the score at 4-0 going into the 2nd. White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease took the mound to start pitching for the White Sox, and in the bottom of the 2nd, Cease consecutively threw for 3 strikeouts. In the top of the 4th, White Sox batter Jose Abreu grounded out but managed to get his man from 3rd base home. The Blue Jays trailed the White Sox 5-0 by the end of the 4th inning.

Blue Jays Struggle to Find Momentum

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the White Sox defense picked up on a double play to shut down the Blue Jays. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Blue Jays batter Corey Dickerson crushed a 97.7 mph fastball thrown by Cease to right field for a solo home run and the first run for the Blue Jays. By the end of the 7th inning, the White Sox held a heavy lead with the score at 5-1. In the bottom of the 8th inning, White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech relieved Cease at the mound after 95 pitches. After throwing 2 singles, he was replaced with Liam Hendriks to close the 8th with a double play. In the bottom of the 9th, Blue Jays batter Lourdes Gurriel grounded to left field for an RBI single with 1 out. Blue Jays batter Josh Palacios was struck out, and the last out was Santiago Espinal who grounded out to close the game. The White Sox beat the Blue Jays 5-2.
