White Sox take last game of homestand with walk off homer (Chicago, Illinois) – After yesterday’s narrow loss, the White Sox brought out Lance Lynn to throw out the first pitch of the game. He threw for a strikeout, pop out, and flyout to start the game. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the White Sox were caught in a double play by the Red Sox defense. In the top of the 3rd inning, Lynn knocked down Red Sox batters Travis Shaw, Kevin Plawecki, and Enrique Hernandez with strikeouts to move the game. The 4th and 5th innings consisted of many lineouts, groundouts, pop outs, and strikeouts. In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Garrett Crocket relieved Lynn at the mound to throw for a fly ball turned into a double play and no runs. In the bottom of that inning, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a single RBI to place the first run on the board.

A Tightly Played Game

After the 6th inning, the White Sox took the lead with the score at 1-0 White Sox. In the top of the 7th inning, White Sox pitcher Jose Ruiz relieved Crochet to throw for the last out of that inning. Ruiz threw for a flyout and 2 groundouts in the 8th inning before he was replaced with Craig Kimbrel in the top of the 9th. In the top of the 9th, Kimbrel threw out a double and walked 2 batters.  After the second walk Red Sox batter Alex Verdugo was out but not before he was able to lock in an RBI to tie the game at 1-1.  In the bottom of the 9th, White Sox batters Eloy Jimenez and Yasmani Grandal were both struck out. The next batter up was Leury Garcia, who with 2 strikes, cracked a ball off his bat to center field for a walk off home run. The White Sox beat the Red Sox 2-1.
