Mayor Lori Lightfoot touted the great work that her administration has done to improve the disinvestment problems on the South and West sides. One particular program that the Mayor was very excited about was Invest Southwest. This program has been successful working with private partnerships.

“Invest Southwest has been even more successful than I could have ever imagined. Number one, we’ve way exceeded what our financial estimates were. We will be seeing $2 Billion dollars by the end of this year,” said Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Diversity in Contracting

“We have development teams that were required to reflect the diversity of those neighborhoods. So what that means is that people working in those neighborhoods look like you, and share your lived experiences,” Mayor Lightfoot stated.
