University Park Honors Women Leaders in Virtual Event (University Park, IL) – The Mayor’s Office of Special Events in University Park held its first ever virtual awards ceremony honoring women who have given of their time and talents to their communities. The virtual event was held through the Village’s local cable station on Thursday, March 25th. University Park Mayor Joseph E. Roudez III opened and closed the event with remarks and the evening’s Master and Mistress of Ceremonies were local cable host Jeffery Cohn and Fox 32 News Reporter and TV Anchor, Tia Ewing.

“There are so many women who give their all every day in workplaces and homes, and although we could not recognize them all we selected an array of women in the Women’s History Month from different areas, including government, religion, law enforcement, business and law. We salute women in our village and region, whose visions and dedication to their careers and families are so important to the success and growth of our community,” stated Roudez.

The program highlighted the achievements of eight individuals including Congresswoman Robin Kelly 2nd
Congressional District, Lt. Governor of the State of Illinois, Juliana Stratton, Senior Advisor to the Governor of Illinois, Toi Hutchinson, Will County Executive, Jennifer Bertino Tarrant, Sonia Coffee, Founder & President CHW Management, LLC, Rev. Dr. Ebony Only, 1st Baptist Church of University Park and Nina Fain, Esq. General Counsel, JSS Family Trust and University Park Village Chief of Police, Deborah Wilson.

“The motivation for the event is to recognize women leaders in our Village and our region who have gone above and beyond to contribute to their communities. Some of this year’s recipients have spent decades advocating for social justice”. They are representative of the women who manage families and balance their work despite the odds that society has stacked against them,” remarked Roudez.

The Mayor’s Office of Special Events hopes to make this event an annual recognition program. For more information about the event, please contact the Mayor’s Office of Special Events in the Village of University Park at 708-746-5500.
