Tigers looking to sweep the series against White Sox (Detroit, Michigan) – After the White Sox had a tough defeat yesterday, they were ready to play ball today. In the bottom of the 1st inning, White Sox pitcher Dallas Keuchel took the mound to throw out the bottom of that inning for no damage. In the top of the 3rd inning, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a 2-run single on a grounder to left field. The White Sox were soon trapped in a double play and the game was brought to the bottom of the 3rd. In the bottom of the inning, Tigers batter Akil Baddoo hit a single on a line drive to left field for an RBI. By the end of the 3rd inning, the Tigers trailed the White Sox 2-1. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Baddoo hit another single, this time a grounder, to right field to tie the game at 2-2. The 5th inning consisted of many flyouts and groundouts with both teams displaying great defense. In the bottom of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Jace Fry relieved Keuchel at the mound. In that inning, the White Sox defense caught the Tigers in a double play to advance the game into the 7th.

White Sox Struggle to Find a Hot Hitter

In the bottom of the 7th, the Tigers were caught in another double play and the next batter up was Tigers player Niko Goodrum, who hit an RBI single. Soon after, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer replaced Fry to try and get the 3rd out. Tigers batter Victor Reyes then hit a 2-run single, but a baserunner was out at 3rd base that closed the inning. By the end of the 7th inning, the White Tigers pulled ahead with the score at 5-2. In the top of the 8th, White Sox batter Tim Anderson hit an RBI single to close the gap on the scoreboard.  In the bottom of the 8th, White Sox batter Liam Hendriks replaced Bummer at the mound to throw for 2 strikeouts and a flyout. By the end of the 8th inning, the White Sox trailed the Tigers 5-3. In the top of the 9th inning, the White Sox batters were out on a pop out, groundout, and strikeout to close the game. The Tigers beat the White Sox 5-3.
