The Greats of Soul & Comedy Are Keeping It Hot August Thru Labor Day at Country Club Hills Theater (Country Club Hills, IL) — Comedy and Soul Stars make August through the Labor Day 2023 weekend sizzle at the Country Club Hills Theater in the Chicago suburbs. Comedian and actor Earthquake, comedian Luenell and comic Donnell Rawlings will perform on August 12th. Renowned groups Atlantic Starr, the SOS Band and One Way perform on August 19th. Singers Stokley and Angie Stone take the stage on August 26th. Neo Soul artists Eric Benet and Kindred the Family Soul perform Labor Day Weekend on September 2nd closing out the Country Club Hills Summer Concert Series. Earthquake is a stand-up comedian, actor, voice artist and radio personality. He currently hosts a radio show, Quakeshouse, for SiriusXM and Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network. His first Netflix special, Chappelle’s Home Team – Legendary Earthquake, was produced by Dave Chappelle. He’s also appeared on the TV show, “The Neighborhood,” starring Cedric the Entertainer. Luenell is a comedian and actress who has done stand-up comedy in many cities nationally including Las Vegas. She has also acted in several films and TV shows including, “So I Married An Axe Murderer,” “Think Like A Man,” “Dolemite Is My Name,” “Coming 2 America,” and “The Tracy Morgan Show.” Donnell Rawlings is a comedian and actor best known as a cast member on the TV series Chappelle’s Show and HBO’s The Wire.
Atlantic Starr is a band from White Plains, New York known for both their uptempo songs and ballads. Their crowd-pleasing hits include, “Always,” “Secret Lovers,” “Circles,” “All In The Name Of Love” and “Masterpiece“. The S.O.S. Band is known for the hits, “Take Your Time (Do It Right),” “Just Be Good To Me,” and “The Finest.” The name of the band stands for Sounds of Success. They have worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. One Way is an R&B and funk band led by singer Al Hudson. The group is best known for the hit single, “Cutie Pie.”
Stokley is a singer, record producer, and percussionist, who was previously the lead singer and studio drummer of the band Mint Condition. He won his first Grammy nomination when he was featured on Kelly Price‘s song, “Not My Daddy.” He is known for his hit, “She…” He worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on his album “Sankofa.” He also toured with The Revolution on a tribute to Prince. Angie Stone is a singer, songwriter and actress known for her hits that include, “No More Rain (In This Cloud),” “More Than Woman,” and “Baby.” She had a lead role in the Broadway Musical, “Chicago,” and also the film, “The Fighting Temptations” with Beyonce. She has also appeared on “R&B Divas” as a life coach.
Eric Benet is a 4-time Grammy Award-nominated R&B and neo soul singer, songwriter and actor. His hits include, “Spend My Life With You,” “Spiritual Thang,” “Georgy Porgy” featuring Faith Evans, “I Wanna Be Loved,” “You’re The Only One,” and “Harriet Jones.” He has worked with Earth, Wind and Fire, Ledisi, Tamia, Arturo Sandoval and MC Lyte. He has appeared in the movie, “Glitter,” with Mariah Carey, the TV show “Half & Half” and also “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” with Kevin Hart and Boris Kudjoe. Kindred the Family Soul is a Neo Soul duo known for their hits, “Far Away,” “Where Would I Be (The Question),” “Magic Happens” and “All My People,” They’ve been nominated for both Soul Train Music and BET Awards.
