The Community Stands by Senator Emil Jones III (Chicago, IL) — State Sen. Emil Jones III is reported to have  federal bribery issues in connection to the red-light camera company SafeSpeed LLC. His father, former Senate President Emil Jones Jr., released the following statement this afternoon:

“The charges brought against my son, Emil Jones III, do not reflect the man he is. Everyone knows he is an honest, hardworking legislator. I intend to fight with him and stand alongside him throughout this process.”

Senator Jones III represents the 14th senate district in Illinois. The newly mapped 14th district includes the far south side of Chicago, Alsip, Oak Forest, Crestwood, Blue Island, Orland Park, and Oak Forest.

The Southland Journal reminds the public that all criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

About Senator Emil Jones III

According to the Illinois General Assembly website, Senator Emil Jones, III, was born on May 16, 1978 and is the son of former Senate President Emil Jones, Jr. and the late Patricia Jones. He graduated from Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights and attended Chicago State University and Robert Morris College. He formerly served as an administrator at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Senator Jones serves on the following committees: Labor; Licensed Activities (Vice-Chair); Appropriations I; Commerce; Energy; Committee of the Whole; State Government & Veterans Affairs; Subcomm .Adv.Practice Nurse’s License; Subcommittee on Readiness (Sub-Chair); Subcommittee on Special Issues.
