Suspect Arrested for Stolen Vehicle. (Orland Park, Illinois) – Suspect Charged with Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle/Fleeing and Eluding On 01/11/21 at approximately 4:30PM, an Orland Park Police Officer spotted a vehicle fitting the description of a vehicle that was previously reported stolen pulling into the parking lot of Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 1 Orland Park Place.

The driver entered the Dick’s Sporting Goods location while the officer confirmed the vehicle was in fact reported stolen out of Highland Park, IL. Additional Orland Park Police units responded to the area as the driver exited the store and re-entered the stolen vehicle. Several Orland Park Officers attempted to immobilize the stolen vehicle by blocking it in place but the driver maneuvered over a parking lot island striking a parked vehicle, allowing the subject to flee. In the process, Orland Park Officers were able to deploy a tire deflation device.

The driver fled the scene and ultimately abandoned the vehicle in the 7100 block of Wheeler Ave. Orland Park Officers, Orland Park K-9 Officer and an Orland Park Drone Operator were in the area and set up a perimeter along with the assistance from Tinley Park and Oak Forest Police Officers. The driver was located inside the Meijer store, pushing a shopping cart full of groceries. The driver, now identified as Davanta Wilson, was found to be a convicted felon who is currently on parole for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.

The Orland Park Police Department would like to thank the Oak Forest and Tinley Park Police Departments for their assistance in helping us bring this matter to a successful and safe conclusion. Chicago, IL 60652 Charges Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony) Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding (Class 4 Felony) Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Class A Misdemeanor) Driving While License Suspended (Class A Misdemeanor) On 01/12/21, Wilson was transported to Bridgeview Courthouse where he was issued a $10,000D bond.
