Sheriff’s Office Senior Citizen Law Enforcement Academy Holds Graduation Ceremony (Phoenix, IL) — More than two dozen senior citizens who completed the Cook County Sheriff’s Office Senior Law Enforcement Academy courses graduated Wednesday in ceremonies at the Phoenix Community Cafe in Phoenix, IL.

Final courses were completed and Certificates of Completion awarded to the seniors by Cook County Undersheriff Marlon Parks and Sheriff’s Office officials including Director of Community Engagement Tisa Morris. Phoenix Mayor Terry Wells and Phoenix Police Chief Roy Wells, Sr. also participated.

The Academy program covered six weeks in which seniors learned about protecting themselves from crime and how to prevent crime. Specific programs included Forming a Neighborhood Watch and Overview of Community Policing. This year’s graduation coincided with Sheriff Dart’s Secret Santa for Seniors Program, so all Academy participants in Phoenix filled Wish Lists and received Secret Santa Gifts.
