Royals beat the White Sox in last game of series (Chicago, Illinois) – In the last game of the series, White Sox pitcher Dallas Keuchel took the mound to throw out the first pitch. Royals batter Emmanuel Rivera hit a 2-run RBI, with Rivera landing on 2nd base to cement the first runs of the night. The Royals came out swinging with the score being 2-0 going into the bottom of the 1st inning. White Sox batter Jose Abreu took the mound to crush a solo home run to center field. In the top of the 2nd inning, Keuchel threw a ball past White Sox catcher Seby Zalava, and gave the Royal’s man on 1st base an opportunity for an easy steal. The White Sox managed to avoid damage that inning. The 3rd inning was played out with great defense by both teams with groundouts, flyouts, and strikeouts.  In the bottom of the 4th inning, White Sox batter Yoan Moncada was hit by a pitch and an injury delay was issued.

A Defensive Game

In the top of the 5th inning, Royals batter Nicky Lopez ground into a double play at 1st and 2nd bases.  In the bottom of the 6th inning, White Sox batter Andrew Vaughn also grounded into a double play at 1st and 2nd base. In the top of the 7th inning, White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez relieved Keuchel to immediately throw out an 88mph slider that was crushed by Royal’s batter Edward Olivares to right center field. In the top of the 8th, White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera replaced Lopez at the mound. In the bottom of the 8th, White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez lined out a ball to right field for an RBI double. The Royals led the White Sox 3-2 by the end of the 8th inning. In the top of the 9th inning, White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet took the mound to close out the top of the last inning with a flyout, strikeout, and groundout. In the bottom of the 9th, White Sox batters Yoan Moncada, Adam Engel, and Leury Garcia all went down with the ball game. The Royals beat the White Sox 3-2.
