Riverside Township Has Until August 20th to Submit Property Assessment Appeals (Chicago, IL) – The Cook County Board of Review has been accepting assessment complaints from Riverside Township residents seeking property tax relief, and will continue accepting complaints through today, August 20th.

According to the Cook County Assessor’s Office, the total assessed value of the township grew 36% in last year’s reassessment. Cook County Board of Review Commissioner George Cardenas (BOR-1) has hosted multiple property tax appeal workshops to help taxpayers navigate the appeal process and potentially lower their property tax bills, including an event hosted in Riverside Township featuring Riverside Township Assessor Frances Sitkiewicz on August 8th.

“The Riverside Township community, like many across Southwest and Northwest Cook County, has incurred a drastic increase in its assessment values. According to the Cook County Assessor’s Office, Residential (class 2) properties and large multifamily (class 3) properties saw a total assessed value increase of 33% and 46%, respectively in last year’s reassessment. With such sharp increases, I’d encourage taxpayers to file an appeal by August 20th, the last day Riverside Township taxpayers can file an appeal. It’s free, convenient, and can potentially save you money on your property tax bill.”, said Cardenas.

Taxpayers can appeal online through the Cook County Board of Review here: https://appeals.cookcountyboardofreview.com.
