Prairie State College Hosts Renowned Landscape Painter Tom Uttech’s Artwork (Chicago Heights, IL) — Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting Wondrous Visions, a solo exhibition of photographs and paintings by renowned landscape painter Tom Uttech, at the Christopher Art Gallery on the main campus in Chicago Heights, Ill, through October 26.

Uttech explores the spirit of northern Wisconsin and the wilds of Canada with a fantastical vision. His works combine realism with fantastical visions, reflecting the spiritual quality of forests, lakes, trees, and creatures.

“His unique vision of sacred landscapes resonates as we face our contemporary issues of threats to our environment; he portrays the spiritual quality of nature, with its landscape forms and animals that populate it,” Christopher Art Gallery Director Beth Shadur said. “To experience his works, one can imagine being present and transformed by our natural environment, so precious to our country and our world.”

The Wisconsin artist’s work has also been featured in various prestigious museums, including the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Museum of Wisconsin Art, and the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
