Police Chief Rossi Graduates from FBI National Academy (Orland Park, IL) — At the March 20, 2023 Village Board meeting, Mayor Keith Pekau announced that Chief of Police Eric Rossi has graduated as a member of the 285th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 16, 2023. Chief Rossi joins the few before him in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than one percent of public safety professionals have the opportunity to attend the program.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 285th session consisted of 247 law enforcement officers from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 28 countries, four military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
“This was a great opportunity for Chief Rossi to broaden his already exemplary skills,” said Mayor Pekau. “This is a tremendous benefit to the Village of Orland Park as well as the men and women of the Orland Park Police Department.”
Rossi has been a member of the Orland Park Police Department for more than 19 years serving the community as a patrol officer, bicycle patrol officer, field training officer, investigator, patrol sergeant, lieutenant in administration, Investigations Commander, Deputy Chief and now proudly serves as Chief of Police.
“Attending the FBI National Academy has been a highlight of my career,“ said Chief Rossi. “I have met so many great leaders and learned from highly educated and well-respected professionals. I look forward to bringing this great leadership training back to the Orland Park community.”
