Orland Park Police Department is Accepting Applications (Orland Park, IL) — Applications for testing for the Orland Park Police Department are available at the Orland Park Police Station, 15100 South Ravinia Avenue, and online at orlandpark.org/OPPDRecruitment beginning May 1, 2023.

Police officer positions offer a starting salary of $82K annually (or higher with prior police experience) with a gradual increase to $110K after six years of service with Orland Park. Salaries are subject to increase as contract negotiation continues.

Online applications must be submitted on the Village website by 5p.m. on June 19, 2023. Mailed applications must be postmarked by June 19, 2023 and sent to Orland Park Police Department; ATTN: Board of Fire and Police Commissioners; 15100 South Ravinia Avenue; Orland Park, IL 60462. Candidates may choose to return their completed applications in person to the Orland Park Police Station by 5p.m. on June 19, 2023.

Applicants must be United States citizens, at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age (except as permitted by statute) and in good physical and mental condition. Applicants are required to have two years (60 semester hours) of college credits, or one and one-half years (45 semester hours) of college credits and one year of continuous active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

The mandatory orientation for prospective police officers will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 9 a.m. Reporting for applicants whose last name begins A-L begins at 8:15 a.m.; reporting for applicants whose last name begins M-Z begins at 8:30 a.m. All applicants should report for orientation. No further notification will be issued.

The written examination will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023, with sign-in at 8:30 a.m. Both the orientation and written examination will be held at the Orland Park Civic Center located at 14750 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, IL.

Applicants must have a POWER test card prior to the exam and will later be required to take and pass the following: written examination, oral examination, medical and optical examinations, psychological examination and background investigation (including the Police Department Employment Drug Policy).
