Orland Park Police Arrest Burglar, Recover $40,000 in Cash (Orland Park, IL) — On May 26th, 2022, the Orland Park Police responded to a burglar alarm at Orland Bowl, 8601 159th Street. The first responding officer witnessed a vehicle pulling out of the parking lot upon arrival on scene. The officer conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle and identified the driver as Frederick Thomas. Backup officers checked the business and discovered that the rear glass door had been smashed out. An interior check of Orland Bowl revealed that the ATM/Redemption machine had been broken into and its contents were missing. Officers present at the traffic stop noticed several crow bars and gloves visible in Thomas’ vehicle.

The vehicle was searched and Thomas was detained for further investigation. The search uncovered two crow bars, two pairs of gloves, a grey metal box and a shopping bag containing over $40,000 in cash. Thomas was transported to Orland Park Police Department headquarters for further investigation. Surveillance video recovered from Orland Bowl showed Thomas using the crow bar to open the ATM and remove the grey metal box inside that contained the cash. Thomas is currently out on bond stemming from a similar burglary arrest that occurred on May 16, 2022 in Champaign County.

Thomas was charged with one count of Commercial Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Theft (Class 2 Felony). On 05/27/2022 Thomas was transported to Bridgeview Courthouse where the Honorable Judge Lindsey Jones issued a $5000 (D) bond.
