Nicor Presents Taste of Success Job and Resource Fair at Sauk Village Municipal Center (Sauk Village, IL) —  Nicor Gas announces it is sponsoring the Taste of Success Job and Resource Fair to bring local employers and job seekers together to explore opportunities in high-demand careers in utilities and energy infrastructure, heating and cooling (HVAC), construction, traffic management, metals recycling and packaging. On-the-spot hiring is possible and ex-offenders are welcome. The free event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 6 at the Sauk Village Municipal Center, 21801 S. Torrence Ave., in Sauk Village.

Nicor Gas has reached out to local agencies and nonprofits to attract job seekers and career explorers to the fair for an enlightening, informative and productive experience, particularly for those just entering the workforce.

“At Nicor Gas, we are committed to enabling economic opportunity in the communities that we serve,” said Meena Beyers, Vice President of Business and Community Development for Nicor Gas. “We are proud to partner with Sauk Village to host this job fair that will provide access to career training and job placement with some of our partner companies.”

Participating Employers

Employers seeking ambitious applicants to fill current job openings include: Burling Builders, Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Inc. (CEDA), KS Energy Services, Nash Brothers Construction Company, NPL Energy and Utility Construction, TMI Traffic Management, and United Scrap Metal Buyers and Recyclers.

“Taste of Success is a terrific resource for local job seekers at all levels to connect with potential employers and learn more about the types of jobs and career paths that are available in these high-growth industries, locally and beyond,” Beyers said.

The Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Inc. (CEDA) will be onsite to inform attendees about available community assistance programs and South Suburban College will be actively recruiting for its construction program where constituents will learn the ins and outs of the construction industry.

Supporting Local Food Vendors

Attendees will be able to enjoy delicious food and beverages, available for purchase, from several Sauk Village restaurants on site: Hometown Gyros & Pizzeria, Black Salt Indian Bar & Restaurant, Woo Woo’s Bar-B-Que, Shugga Shack, and Ta Canijo Taco Truck.

“Sauk Village is proud to host Taste of Success,” said Mayor Derrick Burgess. “Our local small businesses also are important to our economic vitality, as they are key sources of jobs and contribute to the quality of life in our town. We encourage everyone attending the event to support our local businesses and patronize the excellent local food vendors who will be onsite.”

Taste of Success also will showcase job training programs that can lead to career paths, as well as money-saving and energy efficiency tips for the home. Representatives from community assistance programs will be on site to provide aid for those in need.
