My Joyful Heart Named “2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits (Mokena, IL) — My Joyful Heart announced today it has been named a “2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading website for community recommendations of charities and nonprofits. This is the fifth consecutive year they have received this recognition.

My Joyful Heart is a nonprofit 501(c)3 Christian organization serving children in need for the past 20 years by sharing gift bags with necessities throughout the school year. There are 5 gift events each year where different items are packaged up and given to the children: items such as coats, winter wear, undergarments, socks, personal hygiene, back to school supplies, books, toys, clothing, bedding, and miscellaneous items. Scripture and simple stories and quotes to share the love of Christ is included with each package. They serve over 40 Chicagoland schools.

My Joyful Heart believes all children have the potential to succeed in life and believes that if basic needs are met, children will perform better both academically and socially. My Joyful Heart combats the challenges faced by children in poverty and provides a positive influence on children in need by supplying them with basic life essentials. Underprivileged children are recommended for enrollment into the My Joyful Heart program by school administrators, teachers, and/or social workers; religious leaders from churches; and counselors and/or caseworkers from occupational centers, therapeutic centers, or similar agencies. Each child is individually shopped for and this helps the child feel special because he/she receive items in his/her favorite color or receive something that was on his/her wish list.

Our supporters help by volunteering in our ministry center and warehouse, they are our liaisons at the schools, churches and organizations that we serve and they are the organizations, businesses and individuals that donate to help us be a light to the children that we serve. The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that My Joyful Heart received from volunteers, donors, and aid recipients. “When I walk into the building, it amazes me how organized and smoothly the process is to either shop, fill backpacks, or help support an event. I have been a teacher for 30 years and I know how one person can make a difference in a child’s life and My Joyful Heart has made a difference in so many lives. I have no doubt that God has had a hand in this.”
