Leader Haas Recognizes Emerging Women Leaders from the 79th District (Kankakee, IL) — House Assistant Minority Leader Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) welcomed Business Owner and Marketing Consultant Jasmyne Humble and Development Manager of United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties Mariah Vail to Springfield on Tuesday for an Emerging Women Leaders brunch that honored the contribution of female leaders from throughout the state.
“Jasmyne and Mariah represent leadership and service in Kankakee County and the 79th District,” said Leader Haas. “I’m honored they joined me yesterday and am glad to recognize them with my House colleagues for all they give to our communities. Working with families, women, and children to ensure they have better lives is admirable and challenging work. They deserve this recognition and so much more.”
Jasmyne Humble has worked as the Communications Director for Kankakee County. She also works as a financial services trainer to teach financial concepts and basic principles to help families and empower families through education. She previously served as the Marketing Communications Coordinator for the City of Kankakee, a Counselor and Teaching Assistant with Nexus Indian Oaks Academy, and a Television News Producer with WSAW in Wisconsin and WTVO in Rockford. She is also a board member of the Kankakee County Development Corporation and United Way. She is a founding member of Women United of United Way and President-Elect of the Kiwanis Club of Kankakee.
Mariah Vail has worked as the Development Manager of the United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties since August 2021. She previously worked for Project SUN – Kankakee as a Community Navigator and Communications Coordinator. She also worked as a Communications Specialist for the Pledge for Life Partnership. She volunteers as a Ministry Lead for Safe Families for Children, is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Kankakee, and is a Commission Advisor with Harbor House (Kankakee County Coalition against Domestic Violence).
Jasmyne Humble and Mariah Vail joined other female leaders from across Illinois who are taking bold steps to make the state a better place to live and work. In addition to the brunch, the group participated in a discussion about what issues are important for Illinois women and how the General Assembly can create policy that reflects their priorities.
The contributions of these women were also recognized by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (Savanna) in a speech on the House floor.
