Hundreds Attend, Receive Resources at 12th Annual Back to School Health Fair (Hillside, IL) — Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch hosted his 12th annual free Back to School Health Fair last weekend. Hundreds of people from the community received free health and wellness resources, back-to-school essentials, and enjoyed plenty of free food and drinks.
“I look forward to our free Back to School Health Fair every year,” said Speaker Welch. “It’s always a wonderful time for fellowship with so many friends in the community and it’s incredibly rewarding to help kiddos get excited for the upcoming school year. I want to thank my staff and all the vendors who donated their time and resources to help make the event such a success.”
At the event, families received free hair cuts from local barber, Erskine Reeves, free physicals and dental exams, free vaccinations from Walgreens, and free food and produce boxes donated by Amazon. Nearly 40 vendors attended, including Cook County Health and County Care, Brookfield Zoo, Westchester Food Pantry, Bellwood Sweet Shop, Loyola Medicine, McDonald’s Hillside, American Lung Association and many more.
Families were eligible to receive dozens of free raffle prizes and enjoyed performances by the Proviso East marching band. The first two hundred families also received a free school supply kit filled with essentials for the upcoming school year.
