Haas Honors Local Business for Monthly Spotlight (Kankakee, IL) — State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) is continuing to recognize small businesses in and around her district, each month visiting a local business and highlighting their achievements. This month, Representative Haas has recognized The Swanky Home, a home décor and gifts shop in Bourbonnais. Rep. Haas presented the owner Anna Kolokythas with an official certificate of recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives to note her contribution to the community.
The Swanky Home has been a staple for home décor since 2020—and was built from Kolokythas’ own passion for decorating. After building her own home, she understood the need for a business created for customers’ specific décor needs—and created just that. The Swanky Home is hosting a special walk-through open house at the end of February, which area residents should not miss.
This edition of the ‘Local Business Spotlight’ is especially important, as it is the first one in Representative Haas’ new district. With the new legislative map taking effect this term, Haas now represents new communities including portions of Kankakee, Crete, Richton Park, University Park, Park Forest, and Monee. As the Representative continues to honor local businesses, she is eager to connect with business owners in all corners of the “new” 79th District. To do that, she encourages her constituents to recommend a business they believe should be featured by contacting her District Office at haas@ilhousegop.org.
“The Local Business Spotlight is something I look forward to each month because it’s an opportunity for me to meet with not only constituents but business owners who play a vital role in providing necessary goods and services to our neighborhoods,” said Rep.
