Erin Lewis Believes She is the Change Country Club Hills Needs (Country Club Hills, IL) – The James Baldwin quote “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced,” lines the front of Erin Lewis’s campaign apparel. Long-time Country Club Hills resident, Erin Lewis is running for the 5th ward alderman seat.

Lewis has a background in the medical field, but after experiencing burn out she decided to create her own lane and embark on an entrepreneurial journey. She currently owns and operates Benzino’s Crab Trap located at 4265 167th St.

She built her home in Country Club Hills in 2007 and has always wanted to bring new energy to the neighborhood. In the community, Lewis held a position on the Theatre commission for over seven years and served as VP of the Chamber of Commerce.

As a resident, Lewis has experienced frustrations from dealing with high taxes, lack of local amenities, and incidents of crime. Lewis’s home was invaded, and two vehicles were stolen from her driveway.

Instead of sitting at home and complaining, Lewis is speaking up to spark change.“The people want a leader that will speak up. As a resident and business owner, I am passionate about creating sustainable change,” said Lewis.

She wants to focus on economic development and she has been working with business owners to leverage their strength in numbers. Lewis believes she understands the voice and needs of the community because she shares their concerns.

If elected Lewis plans to address residents’ problems and push leaders to face issues head-on.

“We have to go out of our community for everything. We don’t have a grocery store, we don’t have a library, and I have to go take my sons to the Mattheson Recreation Center just to get basketball lessons,” said Lewis. “The residents of Country Club Hills deserve to have a local grocery store, library, and recreational sports for children.”

Lewis’s supporters believe she is a successful leader with an unmatched drive. Lewis is running for the 5th ward alderman seat because she believes, “Country Club Hills has been at a standstill and it’s time for a change.”
