Driver With Defaced Gun Crashes After Fleeing From Police (Orland Park, IL) — On 04/14/2022 at 6:30PM, an Orland Park Police Patrol Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 7300 block of 159thSt. The vehicle involved in the traffic stop pulled into the Home Depot parking lot and stopped their vehicle in a middle lane of traffic. The officer approached the driver and requested the driver relocate to a safer area. The driver proceeded to drive away at a high rate of speed. The driver drove through the parking lot and continued westbound on 159th St., committing several more traffic violations in the process including driving through a red light at 159th St. and 76th Ave.

A short time later, the Orland Hills Police Department located the vehicle in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, 8940 159th St., and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver fled a second time, driving around squad cars and over curbs and eventually back onto westbound 159th St. at a high rate of speed. At the intersection of 159th and Lagrange, the driver drove through a red light and struck numerous vehicles within the intersection. The driver fled the crash scene on foot but was taken into custody a short time later by Orland Park Officers. One person involved in the crash was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, now identified as Quentin Taylor, was transported to the Orland Park Police Headquarters. A search of Taylor’s vehicle revealed a loaded .45 caliber Smith and Wesson with laser sights and a defaced serial number located on the driver’s floorboard. Taylor was subsequently charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony), Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number (Class 3 Felony), Misdemeanor Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving with a Revoked License and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Taylor was also charged with several traffic violations.

On 04/15/2022, Taylor was transported to Bridgeview Courthouse where he will attend an afternoon bond hearing.
