Cook County Democratic Party files over 100,000 signatures for 2022 slate (Chicago, IL)—Today, the Cook County Democratic Party filed over 100,000 signatures for the 2022 slate from all 50 Chicago city wards and 30 suburban townships. This includes candidates slated for County, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Appellate and Circuit Court positions.

In addition to the Countywide slate, the Party worked closely with the endorsed statewide campaigns to coordinate and support their petition efforts as well.

“This has been a petition season unlike any other with our delayed primary, cold weather, and pandemic safety concerns, but I’m so proud of how the Party came together to support our slate and get our candidates on the ballot,” said Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Democratic Party Chair. “Of course we could not do this good work without the strength of our volunteers; thank you to everyone who knocked on doors, visited train stops, and helped us to meet our goal.”

“I’m proud of what the Party has accomplished during this petition season and to see democracy in action,” said Mike Rodriguez, Executive Vice Chair and 22nd Ward Committeeperson. “We have built momentum to continue getting our message out to voters and electing our slate during this crucial midterm election year.”

“We’re grateful to the volunteers in every township and ward who signed and circulated tens of thousands of petitions to get our countrywide candidates on the ballot and ready to win on June 28th,” said Tracy Katz Muhl, Executive Vice Chair and Northfield Township Committeeperson.

Illinois’ primary election is June 28, 2022. For more information please visit, https://www.cookcountydems.com/.
