Cook County Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar Hosts Town Hall on ARPA Funds for the 16th District (Cook County, IL) – Cook County Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar was joined by members of the Cook County President’s office and the Cook County Board of Finance in a virtual town hall.  This town hall went over the funding the county received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), where the money will be allocated, and how this funding will impact the 16th District.

“The American Rescue Plan Act has been instrumental in providing funds to cities and townships throughout the 16th District,” said Cook County Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar.  “It is our duty to keep the public involved in these conversations so that all funds are distributed in fair and equitable ways to respond to any and all challenges our district faces.”

American Rescue Plan Act

Cook County received more than $1 billion through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The County managed a robust process to develop a responsible, comprehensive, and equitable spending plan to use ARPA one-time resources to support both immediate recovery needs and long-term transformative initiatives.

“This is an historic event that is happening in Cook County and it’s important to know that this information is being shared with Cook County residents and that their input is essential,” said Sandra Lewis, Director of External Affairs with Cook County’s President’s Office.

Cook County’s plan for use of its American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) State & Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) to promote a response to the pandemic and economic recovery is grounded in its core values of equity, engagement, and excellence. Cook County will use an equity lens to guide its SLFRF allocations to promote racial equity and sustainable impacts across the County.  Cook County’s plan for its ARPA funds will incorporate the following six policy priorities:

  • Health and Wellness

  • Economic Development

  • Criminal Justice

  • Environment and Sustainability

  • Public Infrastructure

  • Good Government

Commissioner Aguilar hosting this event for his district is important for the long-term fiscal health of the County’s budget and overall standing of the residents of the County,” stated Ty Cratic, Director of Legislative Affairs with Cook County’s Bureau of Finance.
