Candidate for Congress Rob Cruz Calls Marie Newman a Criminal (Oak Lawn, IL) – Rob Cruz, candidate for Congress (R-6th), said, “It’s a matter of court record, Marie Newman offered a felonious bribe to a political candidate.” “She even paid him a cash settlement to dismiss his breach of contract claim proving it,” he continued.
Cruz is speaking of news reports* exposing Newman’s offer of a job as a political bribe to a former Congressional challenger, Palestinian activist, Lymen Chehade. Newman’s attorneys conceded to a federal judge that the Democrat signed an employment agreement that assured Chehade a top job in her office should she win election to Congress, legal filings show. Chehade’s attorneys argued that Newman extended the offer as a bribe to keep the activist out of a 2020 primary race.
“While The House Ethics Committee is investigating Democrat Marie Newman, she admitted in court that she promised a six-figure job to a potential political rival, I call for her immediate suspension from Congress during this investigation and full pursuit and punishment under the law to demonstrate we still believe in equal protection under the law. A politician must be held accountable and cannot be treated differently than everyone else,” Cruz stated. “We must eliminate political corruption and elect honest representatives of the people,” he continued.
Cruz is a successful small businessman from Oak Lawn, who is frustrated with the direction and overreach of current elected officials. Rob seeks office only to find better solutions for public safety, education, and support of small businesses.

He was also recruited to work on the VOTE NO campaign, a grassroots initiative that would block Illinois politicians from burdening already-stressed residents with higher tax burdens.
