White Sox Beat Angels in 1st Game of Homestand (Chicago, Illinois) – White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito took the mound to throw out the first pitch against the Angels. Angles batter Phil Gossenlin launched a solo homer to left center field for the first run of the game. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a solo homer to left field that tied up the game. Soon after, White Sox batter Gavin Sheets hit an RBI single. By the end of the 2nd inning, the Angels trailed the White Sox 2-1. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, White Sox batter Leury Garcia hit an RBI single. Next batter up was Gavin Sheets, who launched a ball to right field for a 3-run home run. In the top of the 4th inning, Angels batter Jared Walsh hit a 2-run homer to right field. In the bottom of the 4th, White Sox batter Yasmani Grandal hit an RBI single. At the end of the 4th inning, the score was 7-3 White Sox.

In the top of the 5th inning, White Sox pitcher Mike Wright relieved Giolito at the mound.  In the bottom of the 5th, White Sox pitcher Cesar Hernandez grounded a single RBI. Next run was by Gavin Sheets, who scored on a free advancement. By the end of the 5th inning, the White Sox held a heavy lead with the score at 9-3. In the top of the 6th, White Sox pitcher Jose Ruiz replaced Wright at the mound to soon be replaced in the 7th by Aaron Bummer. Bummer was replaced by Ryan Burr in the top of the 8th inning and pitched for no damage. In the top of the 9th inning White Sox pitcher Jace Fry pitched the last inning for 2 groundouts and 1 strikeout to close the game. The White Sox beat the Angels 9-3.
