Nico Tsatsoulis to run for Commissioner at the Cook County Board of Review, 3rd District (Chicago, Illinois) – September 25, 2024 – Libertarian Nico Tsatsoulis will be on the ballot on November 5, 2024, in a two-way race for Commissioner at the Cook County Board of Review, 3rd District.  He is running against incumbent Larry Rogers Jr. who has been on the Board of Review since 2004.

“Democrats have failed us big time in Cook County regarding property taxes,” Tsatsoulis said.  They have been controlling almost every elected office including the Assessor’s Office and the Board of Review for a few generations now and the only thing we have seen is higher and higher taxes and a complete disarray concerning the administration of property taxes.  It is time for a change before our properties become worthless because of excessive taxes,” Tsatsoulis added.

The three-member Board of Review hears property tax appeals.  Only the 3rd District is up for reelection this year.  It covers most of Chicago’s west and south sides and the southern suburbs.  Tsatsoulis ran for Cook County Assessor in 2022 against incumbent Fritz Kaegi and his $6.5 million war chest.  Tsatsoulis spent less than $1,000 but got over 200,000 votes.  This year he was elected Libertarian Committeeperson for the 5th Ward which includes The University of Chicago, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and the Obama Presidential Center.

“There is no reason why all 3 members of the Board of Review should be Democrats.  The lack of plurality has cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. Cook County property owners and especially south side and south suburban residents are being decimated by Democratic profligate politicians and their accomplices in the Assessor’s Office and the Board of Review.  I won’t tire of repeating that the only way for the poor and the middle class to protect their real property is by: 1) using actual sales values instead of government-derived subjective valuations to determine assessments for property tax purposes. 2) getting rid of the corrupt profligate Democratic politicians that Cook County is world-famous for,” said Tsatsoulis.
