Orland Park Resident Charged with Felony Hate Crime (Orland Park, IL) — At 10:35 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2023, the Orland Park Police Department responded to a report of a battery at the 15400 block of Begonia Ct.  Upon arrival, officers learned there were two battery victims and one suspect.

The investigation revealed suspect Terrence Clyne battered one male victim after the victim moved garbage cans from one area of a communal driveway to another. Clyne made hateful comments, referring to the victim’s national Palestinian origin, to the victim in response to the garbage can placement.  Clyne then punched the victim in the face, engaging the victim in physical confrontation.

At this time, the second victim (male victim’s wife) approached in an attempt to verbally deescalate the situation when Clyne made more hateful comments aimed at her while mentioning her Palestinian heritage and moved toward her aggressively. The male victim stepped between Clyne and the female victim and was again punched in the face and physically assaulted by Clyne, causing the male victim to be pushed onto the female victim.

The Cook County State’s Attorney office assisted with the victim and witness interviews at the Orland Park Police Department.  Upon completing the interviews, the State’s Attorney approved two counts of misdemeanor battery, one for each victim, and one count of felony hate crime.
