Local Businessman Dr. De’Andre Rucker Receives Presidential Award; Has Dolton Park Renamed for Him (Dolton, IL) — Dr. De’Andre L. Rucker, a local businessman and philanthropist, was honored with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award while at the ceremonious occasion of having a Dolton, IL park renamed for him. The ceremony took place on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Dolton.

Dr. Rucker has dedicated his career to philanthropy and has made significant contributions to the entire south Chicagoland and surrounding suburbs.

It is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and outstanding achievements throughout their career.

Dr. Rucker is highly regarded in his field and is a role model for many. His dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on the children of Dolton, Illinois as he donated over $100,000 to rebuild their park system.

Many Dolton Park District commissioners; village trustees Tammie Brown, Kiana Belcher, and Jason House; along with other notable community figures and elected officials, showed up in droves in Dolton for the park renaming ceremony despite the blustery winter conditions. Mayor Tiffany Henyard was noticeably absent.

Speakers at the event boasted about Dr. Rucker’s contributions to the surrounding communities, praising his philanthropic attitude, work-ethic, and humility, namely his large contribution to the park district’s basketball program, which greatly reduced the fees that children and their families would have to pay in order to participate in the program. The program was slated to see a fee increase before Dr. Rucker intervened.

The Dr. De’Andre Rucker Park is located on the corner of 154th St. and Greenwood Ave. in Dolton.
