Motor Vehicle Thief Apprehended in Orland Park (Orland Park, IL) – On Thursday (01/06/22) at approximately 5 PM, the Orland Park Police Department responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle at 16333 LaGrange Road.

The victim reported while at Lifetime Fitness, he inadvertently left his car keys on a bench in the men’s locker room. When he returned to retrieve the keys, he discovered both the keys and his vehicle were missing.

Officers on scene obtained surveillance video, along with additional evidence, that lead to the identification of the offender as Tauhid Thompson. The video showed Thompson entering Lifetime Fitness and leaving in the victim’s vehicle. Thompson later returned to the scene with another driver, in the stolen vehicle, to retrieve the vehicle he left behind, departing with both vehicles.

Thompson turned himself in at the police station on Thursday (01/06/22) at approximately 9 PM. He was taken into custody and charged at that time.

On Friday, 01/07/22, Thompson appeared at a bond hearing before the Honorable Judge
Havis at Bridgeview Courthouse. Thompson was issued a $10,000 Recognizance Bond.

Charges:
Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle Class 2 Felony
